Welcome to the Directions Targeted, Information, Advice and Guidance Service

Youth Point accompanying image

Now, thanks to the Directions TIAG service, schools and academies in Leeds, have a genuine TIAG provider from the third sector who can systematically engage with their students at an affordable cost.

Offering targeted information, advice and guidance to young people identified with the lowest levels of social mobility in the OECD, young people across Leeds can now have their potential maximised.

With the support of a Directions TIAG peripatetic personal advisor we offer support that, in many cases, is beneficial during a young person’s transition from year six and beyond. Directions TIAG is intended to expand advice and guidance for young people so they are inspired and motivated to achieve their true potential.

Our Targeted Information, Advice and Guidance is distinctive to the needs of individual young people, and offers support to a schools overall strategy in supporting them.

The Directions TIAG service has been set up by a team of multi-disciplinary professionals, motivated by their own experiences and desires to improve the support offered to young people at school as they consider their futures and in overcoming barriers to engaging in mainstream education.

Today, supported by the Cardigan Centre, the Directions TIAG service is working across Leeds to ensure that every school or academy can become a community, and young people most at risk can benefit from our holistic support package.

We are a matrix accredited provider...

Matrix accreditation is an international quality standard for organisations, like ourselves, who deliver information, advice and/or guidance (IAG).

Matrix accreditation helps us to improve our services by benchmarking against best practice and it provides us with accreditation to demonstrate we meet the full standard in offering high quality IAG.

The matrix Standard comprises of four elements:

Leadership and Management Resources

Service Delivery

Continuous Quality Improvement

Each element contains assessment criteria, all of which have been met in order for us to achieve accreditation.

How we support the most vunerable people in our city...

The team at Directions come from multiple disciplines such as TIAG (Targeted Advice, Information and Guidance), youth work and social work. We have proven experience of providing interventions and support from these fields to young people who face barriers in attaining their true potential, in periods of transition. The results that we have achieved from our work have enabled greater levels of participation, contributed to improved life-chances and ensuring consistency and continuity for the young people that we work with.

Overarching this is the application of core values, proven theory and techniques that are practiced by our staff, in both one-to-one and group work settings. This enables positive outcomes through relationship building and action.
