What young people say about the Youth Work Team

“Doing work experience at Youth Point has definitely opened my eyes on the career I want to do and made me want to work harder towards it, I have thoroughly enjoyed my week and would love to come back! I’ve loved the friendly atmosphere and the workers who made my week very welcoming and fun! Thank you!” - Becca, aged 16 from Lawnswood High School

“In these 4 weeks I have overcome my fear of heights and learnt how to talk to new people effectively. I’ve learnt a lot about myself by meeting people who are in a totally different living situation to me which has taught me a lot. I have also learnt a lot about myself and made some changes to my own life therefore making me more happy.” – About the NCS Programme

“Sarah has been a god send, she has been coming in to school for a number of years and offers excellent sessions. The young people relate to her and she seems to achieve a relationship and understanding from students that us as teachers can’t do.”- Ms Gannon – Lawnswood High School

“We learnt about the consequences of sex including STI’s and pregnancy and about the different STI’s that can be caught”-From young people at City of Leeds school

“I rate the one to one sessions a 9 out of 10. I think we should do it more often, not just once a week. More young people should do it, because I think it helps” – Catilyn – Age 15

"The staff involved were professional and inspirational to the students from my school. The pupils were engaged and because of this retained the information that was delivered to them, which was vital for them to take on the challenge of encouraging others to stop smoking. The skills acquired by the pupils goes far beyond the anti smoking focus and has helped them develop into peer mentors. It has also been a positive experience for the students and has enhanced their self esteem. I feel confident that the course aim of reducing smoking in young people will be successful. I highly recommend the course to others and look forward to continuing to work with the staff and pupils involved in the ASSIST programme"  - Review of ASSIST Programme from Swallow Hill Community College
